Mom's Worldby carlacrypticComment by carlacryptic: My Mom is an artist and an anthropologist and she collects windup toys and baskets. The assemblage on the wall is a fairly recent piece of hers which won her the ribbon next to it on the wall. The cabinet holding (a portion of) her windup toy collection is an old gun display case which she renovated years ago. She was working on a photo collage when I took the photograph and, although it's not the best picture in terms of what's possible with a camera, it's a picture I like a lot because it captures my Mom in a way that is very much about who she is, still making art as she approaches her 77th birthday and never being limited by being in a wheelchair. She inspires me. |

Waves of Grainby carlacrypticComment by Pedro: Carla, I normally don't like this sort of thing, because i generally see them as contrived and obvious (like "hey here's a neat filter in photoshop, I'd better use it because it's there") but somehow you've avoided that. It may be the hue shift to purple or something..I'm not sure...but I love it. Abstract with a sort of Monet feel to it. VERY well done. thanks for posting it.
