It is a great collection of moments and gets better with more viewings. I particularly like the last shot, spiced hot shrimp, very well placed. There is a good sense of the character of the markets and the people, you have captured a special slice of their lives. The cover image works well as seperate from the main essay.

The leaves refusing to fall in line. Nature's beautiful chaos always prevails.

Although, a bit late to the party, please count my admiration for the cover photo and the essay itself. I'm delighted to have discovered this corner of DPC and the captivating essays on display. I hope to find time to explore earlier postings. In the meantime, about the Maine Avenue Fish Market - Forgotten Summer of 2015 ...

For me, the essay combines text and image to tell parallel stories. The soon to be forgotten summer and the encroaching gentrification. As we've seen in San Diego, San Francisco and Portland, the fish markets can remain and continue to thrive, but never in the pure form from which they first came. I suspect the same will be true at Maine Avenue. You've documented a critical summer, I suspect.

Beyond the powerful cover, I also enjoyed the full set of photos - there's not one I don't want to linger upon.

I actually think this image works perfectly as the cover or first image of the market essay.

What a soulful documentary here!
Each time you produce another easy I am prompted to follow in your footsteps and look at a place, a neighborhood, a town with the same precision and refinement as you do.

I will go back several times and spend more time with your collection but have to note that there are a few shots that stayed with me from the first viewing:
- the food stamps image could become a political statement, a poster
- the boy, so small and barely visible from the crowd looking with timidly and with love and touching gently the hand of his younger sibling
- the woman who seemed to have just dipped her rose to become rosy
- in the B&W collection, the spider web of cranes and nets and poles as if scribbling on the sky

The cover photo is a different story. I would use it in a different essay and make as cover for this essay the long picture that starts the hofoster page

Another lovely essay worth becoming a book
