First off, it appears that you nailed the focus on this one. The disorganized busy appearance in this composition is fitting given your message. Couple of observations: it appears to be underexposed a hair or two. White balance is skewed to the warm side. Overall, a credible entry but one that just does not have broad appeal from an artistic viewpoint.

I have looked at my Christmas decorations, and could have taken the same shot, but missed it. I feel the contracst does not work well here, this could be rectified in with some additional lighting.

Very busy shot, clearly gets the message across of being unorganized. I'd toy around with the white balance on your camera or at least try to correct the color cast in Photoshop.
