Windshield Testing @ 120 MPHby RasaiComment by MotoCycleBoi: When I first saw this picture I was not sure it was real. Still gave it +8. Being a motorcycle rider myself I know things fly by at this kind of speed.
Now when I know what shutter speed was used I did a little math. After a fast calculation I found that your Honda Varadero moved about 15 cm during the exposure. That seems to match the small motion blur seen on the right side of the picture.
Always remember to ride safe.
Rubber side down! :-) |

Ah HA! I've always suspected you were an outlaw... 1.5 seconds @ 120 and a dead-end up ahead. You've got that down pretty good for never having stepped over the "Thin Blue Line" ! |

One might think that you have not ridden a motorcycle. In any event it is going to be hard to beat one of your flower photos ... they are very nice!

Windshield Testing @ 120 MPHby RasaiComment by Rasai: Originally posted by RedHotKK: Please don't do that again. It is dangerous enough to drive 120 mph without trying to take a picture while doing it! I don't know how you managed to get a picture like this without a blur when going so fast. Bye the way...your clock must be wrong...and my brother always gives me a bad time about my clocks being off. At least I don't advertise it in a photograph for all to see. |
After seeing this I'm sure he never will again! |

Windshield Testing @ 120 MPHby RasaiComment by Rasai: Originally posted by Spazmo99: The only thing that indicates speed is the gages, the BG is too sharp. A slower shutter speed would help. |
I tried different exposures and they did not produce the sharp focus I was after on the gauges. I've found it hard to get much motion blur doing this sort of shot... It's usually a big trade off. I noticed that you did it effectively with your âDriveâ picture in the Motion blur challenge. Iâll try some of your suggestions to see if I can perfect shots like this. |

That would not have been SAFE or Legal (having somone else take the photo!) Message edited by author 2010-01-18 10:10:19. |

Windshield Testing @ 120 MPHby RasaiComment by Rasai: Thank you for your votes and comments. I achieved one of my goals with this entry. To submit a photo that people doubt as being 'real' & knowing that if it were recommended for disqualification it would be validated as such, even if the basic editing rules were in place for this challenge. It's a shame it wasn't recommended for DQ within the first few minutes as the score tended to go up from the point in time it was validated. I am working on a "How I did it" for those of you that wondered. I've SAFELY taken hundreds of photos while riding. Perhaps someone else might be inspired to do it safely and sanely. I can only help with the safe part of it.
As far as it being so light at âAM 1:30â. The battery died while out on the ride and I could not get the clock adjusted safely while riding⦠so I left it⦠it was not meant to be a Red Herring yet it was noticed by many.
