Cross Polarizationby garrywhite2Comment by ubique: I don't like this kind of shot normally ... I usually think "contrived studio shot" and pass it by. But this does have some real impact. The light grabs the attention, of course, but there's also something more than that. It's probably better than I think, and I was thinking 6. So ... it's a 7 |

Cross Polarizationby garrywhite2Comment by Bear_Music: Technically fanttastic, but the ultimate effect on me is not strong. No emotional or visionary buttons are being pushed, so it seems more like an exercise than a heartfelt image. |

Beveled Edgesby garrywhite2Comment by garrywhite2: This scored poorly but was perhaps one of the fun pictures I have captured. I really enjoyed finding and taking this picture.
I am outside a building on the sidewalk, looking through a glass window into an office. The afternoon light is bright enough that the build across the street, and the pillar behind me is reflected in the window. That the window is beveled glass made my attraction to this image even stronger.
I'm not sure that if I stood inside the office, and shot through the window to the outside that the images would be similar.
Thanks to all that voted, and especially those that commented.

Beveled Edgesby garrywhite2Comment by kearock: It took me a long time to decide this is a mirror or strangely cut window pane (hope I'm right). Unfortunately the way things are reflecting is more distracting and unsettling than it is interesting. Those arches look interesting though. I'd have shot an interesting angle on those and not bothered with the reflection. |

Beveled Edgesby garrywhite2Comment by admart01: you've got the idea here but a few elements detract fromthe shot. I'd suggest cloning out the bottom edge of the light. your border isn't symetrical so I assume you were looking out a window -- I suggest either making it even or cropping it out altogether. that would help the mirrored edges stand out a bit more. you may want to play around with bringing out some of the detail in the wall and darken the oof areas in the foreground collumn |
