weathervaneby HUETHComment by RamblinR: I think this image could have worked well for this challenge if it had been cropped about a third higher and been exposed the create a better silhouette or levels adjusted to enhance the exposure. There is a lot of noise in the image which could be from the exposure or that it has been heavily cropped. |

the wheelby HUETHComment by Pangurban: Perfect subject for the challenge and I really like it in black and white - which I think brings the wheel out more than colour might have done. Would be interetsed to see colour version.... |

mission lightsby HUETHComment by Citadel: Looks like I haven't written a critique for the Critique Club in...5 years? Ouch. I am overdue so you're the lucky recipient!
You chose a great scene to photograph. I really like the colors and the small motion makes this a unique take on the image. I'm wondering if you had a shot where you under exposed a bit. That would get rid of some the details (like around the door) that aren't really contributing to the shot. You could even try just darkening the shadows in post to see if that has that sort of effect and see if you like it In Lightroom, for instance, you could just bring down the darks slider.
Looking at your score it's on the low side but that's simply because of the technical side. It's blurry but you knew that though so I am guessing that you decided to take a risk and try to reach people with the image. I'm glad you did because these kind of images are fun to make. |

allegory in architectureby HUETHComment by sidpixel: Hello from the Critique club
An interesting image that does not meet the challenge
Your twilight image of these interesting buildings are very appealing in themselves but I'm sorry I don't feel that they are at all allegorical. They represent a specific culture directly even though I see they are not located in the region I would have expected them to be. I think it is probably for this reason that you know this and it conveys a feeling of allegory to you personally but this does not come across to your viewer. For this to work effectively here anyone viewing it should be able to make that connection. On a technical level there feels a softness through camera shake but also some over-sharpening in the dome area. Your composition could be improved by moving everything further to the right so that the left is not so abruptly cut off and a better balance is achieved.
Thank you for your entry, hope you had a lovely festive holiday and a creative New Year to you. |
