Aftermathby MarkComment by snaffles: Greetings from the Critique Club!
Hmm...this is one of those head-scratchers and in more ways than one. Like a commenter has already said, I have no idea what I'm looking at - I don't even know if it's part of a car or a motorcycle. I'm guessing it's something dinged up and there is a reflection of a neighbouring vehicle in a side panel? That's the only thing I can think of.
So. It's the aftermath of a scrapeup of some sort, but it's so obscure that it really makes no sense. In terms of technicals the lighting is OK but there is no real attempt to compose a pic. The tire in bottom left is huge and out of focus and just a distraction; the actual scrape is difficult to see and appreciate. Also, looking at your settings, I am surprised that you shot handheld at 1/15; why so slow? Canon is known for its excellent ISO, you could've easily gone to ISO 600 or so and shot a little faster.
There are plenty of excellent car photos here and elsewhere on the net, if this is a favourite subject of matter of yours you would do well to go and study them and see what makes them so compelling. Learn how to shoot from different angles.
Hope this has been of help.

The Danceby MarkComment by sidpixel: *Hello from Sid and the Critique Club*
An appealing image that is assumed to meet the challenge.
I get the chance to comment again! I like that you have captured a natural moment in your dance the way you have it makes the image far more special and meaningful than a posed shot. The sky is very colourful and adds a lovely backdrop to this romantic scene. This sort of exposure will always be difficult but I think I would like to see the foreground and sea brightened up a little at the same time making the figures true silhouettes. Correcting the tilt as I mentioned before is also essential to complete the image.
All in all a nice scene that just needs a bit more tweaking to increase its impact, thanks for your submission, Sid |

The Danceby MarkComment by sidpixel: A colourful sunset with added interest from the two figures but let down a little by the sloping sea, good luck |

Aftermathby MarkComment by Beetle: I don't get this one, I'm just not sure what I am looking at. Now don't simply think I am an idiot - even if I AM missing something, I still think it is YOUR job to get your point across. I have spent ages staring at this, and I do have some ideas, but I still can't be sure. So after all this effort on my behalf, I wonder if perhaps YOU could have found a different way to show this to us/me. A slightly different angle would no doubt give a VERY different result.
On the other hand, if I am the ONLY one with this problem, just ignore me and be happy everyone else got it perfectly :-) |

Morning Above the Cloudsby MarkComment by jomari: Beautiful scene. The distractions are the jet trail and the sign? They don't really distract me beyond trying to find them. |

Morning Above the Cloudsby MarkComment by escapetooz: Cool shot. Love the ominous tree and the mists in the background. I certainly see that distracting sign down at the bottom, as for the second, it's not as obvious. |
