The shot is very busy, this is my constant battle, to get clear shots of my horses while being surrounded by barns, muck heaps, hay stacks, vehicles, ugly fences, a railway track down the one side of the property, a round pen, to name a few. The two horses on the right would make a great shot in the long grass on their own. I dont know if I like the blue tint of the shot, but the buildings, muck pile, trailer, poles, wires and pile of roundbales covered by tarp just draw your eye away from the important part of the shot, the horses.

If your girlfriend said that the brightest thing in the photo is a horse trailer and it draws her eye past the horses straight to the trailer - I'd agree

If your girlfriend thinks that the dark background behind the middle horse's head makes the subject of the photo kind of blend in - I'd have to go with her on that one too

I love the two horses on the right, the horses backend I would crop right out - I really think the background is your main battle here - it's just too much visual noise to overcome with any amount of cropping.

I think your girlfriend is wise.

Very nice silouette. The purple treatment reminds me of Halloween. I especially like the branch in the foreground. Just those two streaks of lighter purple create a nice base for the hawk.

The grain works very well with your image however I feel that the border is quite distracting since it is brighter than any other part of the image.
