To the Lighthouse (Virginia Woolf)by KroburgComment by dtremain: Comment Challenge: What a great lighthouse! I love the yellow of the sky and yellow highlights / tones elsewhere. For me, this wants to be a closer crop. Almost 1/3 of the picture is (basically) featureless black with the two power lines and one road running through it. The same message could have been communicated with less distance. While I love the mountains and yellow sky, for me it wants to be tighter on both sides, focusing on the lighthouse complex and the rock that it sits on. |

To the Lighthouse (Virginia Woolf)by KroburgComment by mariuca: The second Virginia Woolf's lighthouse in this challenge. To me, this is much closer to the symbolism of the novel. The trailing wires make the shot. Perhaps less saturation would have given more of the intangible feeling that I look for but the image has this burned-by-the-sun quality that is appealing also.

To the Lighthouse (Virginia Woolf)by KroburgComment by Cory: This was a novel that literal worked for. I think the tonality here is great, and love that rich yellow.
Powerlines should have been cloned out, and I would have just loved a tiny touch of 'structure' on that building.

To the Lighthouse (Virginia Woolf)by KroburgComment by lunachicken: Clearly a main theme of the book. The warm orange tones are pleasant, the foggy haze in front of the islands gives it depth. Would like a little more story rather than just scene, but that is a minor nitpick. 7 |
