Strong mood, excellent framing and a great capture. The only weak point I see here is the lighting/exposure. I'd think this might make a great reshoot. Try metering for the grass beyond the fence...the portion that is blown out. Stop that down 1, step back a bit and fire off the curtain flash. If this doesn't work, play around with the manual setting until you can get the foreground lite w/o leaving the background so hot. I think you can still get the shadow on the dog's face while still holding on to the dramatic lighting.

I truly loved this picture. I think that any working parent with children can fully relate with this image. Nice composition and use of light. The only thing that I would have tried to change is the slight distraction in the upper right corner. Overall, good job, one of my faves for this contest, Good luck.

As someone who can't stand pet/animal pictures with nothing to make them interesting or unique, I love this shot. It has expression to it, and the fence makes for interesting compositional lines as well. Good work.
