Love the smirk on the referees face. Other than that I think you are a little too far from the action for this to be massively effective, but a good effort nonetheless.

I think a tighter crop on the ref and the card would make this a more dramatic photo.

Thanks to all for the comments...firstly, this was only intended as an experiment and as such is far from finished or even cleaned up (as you will see from the tree tops).
The image I used is in my portfolio..(The road to nowhere)..it was selected for it`s obvious "fairy tale" feel.
I just applied my normal mix of Levels and curves adjustments to blow out the highlights and darken the shadows..then dodged and burned to bring detail back to some mid range areas and fade it from other areas.

Finally, an application of NI to soften it.

The most important factor in all of this is finding the right subject ...without it you will struggle to get the "feel".
You will notice that the original already has the "fairy tale" look.
All I have tried to do is enhance it.

Thamer.. I haven`t tried a "dark version" as I don`t think it would have the same appeal with this particular image.

WOW O_O simply amazing! My eye just doesn't want to leave the frame. I just love it, into my favs.

I love to see scenes like this in a dark mood, but you've went the opposite way and still managed to create the same mood I would feel from a dark version, just brilliant! Do you have a darker version as well?

And please share with me the steps to create this :)

Lovely detail, light and texture. Sharpening has left clear pixel blocks in some areas and background is maybe a bit too much of a 50/50 split with the feeling that something should be happening there.

Gordon - great effect and beautifully rendered. You never do too little or too much.

That is a really cool effect. The photo seems to lend itself to this treatment very well. I love seeing what can be done to photos to change the look completely. Well done!

Good shot! Right time at the right place. I would have put the photo through Noise Ninja or Neatimage to remove the grain though.
