Ben A`an at twilight by geewhyComment by e301: Originally posted by e301: The only way i can see this wonderfully atmospheric and exemplary shot not winning this week is if the 'don't believe it's legal' crows get to it too heavily. Has a quality reminiscent of the painter Caspar David Friedrich; and there is little higher praise than that. When i grow up, I want to be able to take photos like this. |
Of course, I forgot about motorcycles in mid-air ... :-(
Wonderful work, as ever.

Ben A`an at twilight by geewhyComment by geewhy: Thanks to all for the kind words,
this was my first chance since joining DPC to get out and into my beloved hills..it was also my first attempt at dodging and burning (which helped to emphasise the sunlight and shadows)Hopefully, I`ll get a little better as time goes on.
For the people who expressed an interest in how this was achieved...(nothing too difficult)Took around 6 exposures at different settings, chose the one which had the most sky detail..then used curves to return some detail to the dark areas, finished it off with a little dodging and burning (for reasons above)then reduced noise slightly in Neat image.
Thanks again to everyone who voted and commented.
