Spring Timeby risu81Comment by rainbow: There are few with the same title, so it might be difficult to get a ribbon, but I like the composition of this photograph and the colours. Very nice and clean looking. |

Over the Top.... !!Touchdown!!by risu81Comment by risu81: I would like to thank everyone for their comments on my photo. To answer some of the 'out of focus', 'too blurry' comments: The shot was taken at a night game, 28 rows up in the stands, full optical zoom, maximum ISO setting, and with a 2 Megapixle camera. I won't even go into timing the shutter lag. All things considered I am very happy with how sharp the picture is. For the comments on the cropping or framing of the shot: From my position in the stands I was limited to the angle I could take the shot at. To bring the action up as close as possible I set the crop to the maximum dimensions the challenge allows. I also wanted to keep the perspective of the yard marker on the opposite side of the field to show the down and the position of the ball prior to the snap . Again, for what I had to work with I'm happy with how the picture turned out. Thanks again for all the comments. |

Over the Top.... !!Touchdown!!by risu81Comment by Natasha: Composition- Content I think that the composition is pretty good, getting the crowd and the players into the shot adds interest. However, i think cropping off some of the foreground would have brought us closer to the action. Zooming right into the players would also have been interesting. Background Overall, I like your decision to include the crowd, however the lack of Depth of Field throws them out of focus, which would have been OK if the players had been in focus! Camera Work-Technical The shutter speed was a bit slow here and so didnt stop the action, I think this kind of picture needs good sharp focus. Try setting faster shutter speed, also using a monpod could have helped with camera shake, I have the same problem with my camera, especially with a long zoom. Digital Processing Colours are nice and bright, especially the reds. My opinion I am not a football fan, so on a personal level, it doesn`t hit me. However, I think you chose a great topic for the challenge and one which does interest many people, so you would reach a big audience with this picture. I am sure you can see for yourself from the comments, what everyone is saying about shutter speed, however you have caught motion well and something along these lines could be good for the motion theme! Good Luck and I hope that this helps! |

Over the Top.... !!Touchdown!!by risu81Comment by drewmedia: This is an excellent subject and an excellent moment to capture for the challenge. The focus is just a little off, and obviously a slightly faster shutter speed would have been ideal. Good job. |

Over the Top.... !!Touchdown!!by risu81Comment by inspzil: Great seats buddy!! Nothing is truly in focus in this frame which is really a shame. It is a great op for a pic being on the goalline and all and taken from pretty close. I don't know if all the zoom had a hand in making this a blurry shot, but something did and its unfortunate. I couldn't say enough about the composition of his pic. In crisp focus, prolly a 9 minimum. - Inspzil |

Over the Top.... !!Touchdown!!by risu81Comment by bod: Excellent shot. Looks like you've caught the ball about an inch from the goal line. A tighter crop would have been interesting to see too. Well done. |

Over the Top.... !!Touchdown!!by risu81Comment by johnny_justjohnny: nice timing. too bad that guy with the picture of the steelers game had to raise the bar so freakin' high for any other football pictures. you really did get the moment of truth though. maybe would've been better with some more of the crowd and less of the foreground. |
