Maybe I'm the odd one out, but I actually prefer the uncropped version. Just shows, you can't please all of the people all of the time

Pardom me for being a bit technical, but by cropping so much you are now reaching the optical limits of your camera with little imperfections now showing, e.g a blue fringe along the top (in the white to blue transition), a strange rainbow in between the two railings of the balcony, and an overall softness that is not at all present in your overall picture.

I always return from FS trips with a crick in my neck from looking up. I think you could shoot architectural oddities for 2 or 3 years and not duplicate one. This one could have easily been missed as it's so high up but it's so perfect for your theme Alice - as others have said - how odd to create such a large landing with nothing on it.

Another red light find? You must have a sun roof or a convertable car! This is an odd one for sure. There is only window access to that balcony, so it seems to me it is part of the fire escape system. Nice find.

The contrast of colors in this shot is great. That balcony is definitely odd. :) What's more interesting is that there is nothing on it. Which begs the question of "why?"

I actually like this one a lot more than the cropped version. Taking at another time without the tree shadow might also be interesting.

Those must be very special people. Or it is a place where you can rest have climbing all those stairs. Odd indeed. Great find.

Odd isn't even the word for this one :-).
Sometimes you can't help but wonder what people are thinking, indeed if they are thinking anything at all!

That balcony definitely doesn't look "recreational". Perhaps it has something to do with fire regulations, that you need an "assembly point" every so many floors ?

Another nice arty sighting. So many architectural styles in your city. Damn. Couldn't they have put the escape on the other side of the building?! Kind of spoils the design.
(A lot of purple CA fringing on the contrasty edges. Perhaps filter it out in PP? )
