One Room Schoolhouse c.1820by lagavulinComment by melismatica: Great subject. Decent lighting. It's still lacking a bit, for me. I'm not sure what. It may be the cropping. I think I'd like to see more of the room in a wider angle shot. I wonder if stopping down the EV setting (i.e., shortening your exposure time) would have heighened the contrast of the play of light and shadow on the benches and across the floor? |

Sherry's Eyesby lagavulinComment by Olyuzi: I think the background green compliments Sherry's hair, more than it does her eyes and her expression seems quizzical, as though she's wondering what you're doing. The lighting seems a bit too harsh and the shadow on the wall is deistracting. Also, I don't particulary care for the angle of view, and the slanted sofa in the background. Gives a kind of bizarre appearance to the image. Still, this pic is interesting, possibly because of what I discribed above. I may come back to revise my critique. |

Sherry's Eyesby lagavulinComment by dwterry: This would probably be voted higher without the confusing shadows in the background (have her move forward) and with a tighter cropping of the face and/or cropping verticially instead of horizontally. Good luck on the challenge. |

Sherry's Eyesby lagavulinComment by lastef: This is a good picture, but if you would have only the eyes I think it would have been stronger. |

Sherry's Eyesby lagavulinComment by Gatorguy: The angle of the shot and the harsh lighting detract from this photo for me. If you were on eye level, and the subject was either farther from the wall, or there was a side light to overpower the shadow, it would have made a better shot. |
