Behind blue eyes.....by knikkiComment by RyanW: Oh, it's a complement, it's not meant to be a jab at you, moreso at the voters for voting lower than the photo deserved :) |

Behind blue eyes.....by knikkiComment by knikki: I'm not sure how to take being the recipient of the very first "bird" award - but it gave me such a huge laugh, I'm going to consider it a compliment.
Thank you to everyone for the comments - they help. I'm looking forward to better things - like editing a picture (post-processing) for the first time. Side challenges. Self-portraits. Harsh and not-so-harsh critiques as long as they're honest. And continuing to be in awe of the varied and diverse talents in this forum.

Behind blue eyes.....by knikkiComment by RyanW: This is the very first photo that i am giving my "deserved a better score" award to.
The community here can sometimes be harsh in their vote casting as many hold everybody to an incredibly high standard. This effect causes many to rise to the occasion but can be daunting at the beginning.
As you are new here and, like many, want to learn and improve your skills, i feel that you are a fitting recipient for this.

Decrepit Beautyby knikkiComment by RyanW: Personally I liked this image and gave it a 7.
It's true that a few shadows could have produced a more interesting contrast in the image, but we can't all control the weather... ;-) |

Behind blue eyes.....by knikkiComment by Tiny: Agree this is a very good image for your first entry as a newcomer.
Also agree with Todd that a little post processing could really raise this shot.

Decrepit Beautyby knikkiComment by dtremain: Interesting photo. I like the texture and feel of the wood and windows. Yet, rather than have an "old" feel to it, the - to my mind at least - modern elements, like cinder blocks (concrete blocks), and plastic window coverings put it within my lifetime, losing the "nostalgic charm" factor. |
