It's a pretty good picture, but a real stretch to fit the challenge in my opinion.
The carpenter's pencil seems out of place. I hope no one ever used those things for any serious writing.

You´ve had a very good idea remembering us that the books are, depending on the interpretation, really a "kind of transportation". However, you´ve failed in the execution. The image is underexposed, that´s why it´s so dark. Try to use other shutter the next time (maybe 2 or 3 seconds, depending of the aperture) and you will have a gorgeous photograph. And keep creative!
