One Red Centby fdpiechComment by Neuferland: Greetings from the Critique Club!
Hi! I really liked this shot during the challenge and still do. But there were a few things that jumped out at me right from the beginning. The first was the glare on the left, very distracting, a slightly tighter crop would have taken care of that. The light on the penny at the top is perfect, not glaring, not too dull. The red cent being off center does work for this shot but the right side getting cut off doesn't really work for me.
I also think a small border would really help this shot, sort of like holding all the pennies inside the frame.
Also the focus seems a bit backwards, almost as if the blur should be in the back and the front more focused. Or the entire shot should be focused since it is a macro shot. I would really like to see this redone and if you do, please let me know.
Good Luck In Future Challenges!

Blue Mist by Joan Severanceby fdpiechComment by Neil: Greetings from the Critique Club:
I think you've captured an excellent scene here. The composition is excellent.
I like the blue effect overall. But I think the image could use more contrast. Taking it into PS, I see that the black levels in the photograph are not at the end of the scale, as they should be. In addition, due to oversharpening, or due to using too big of a radius while sharpening, there are halos along the treeline.
Finally, the image has a bit of noise. Noise reduction, e.g., via Neatimage, would have addressed that easily.
All in all, a beautiful image, just needs a bit of attention in an image editor like PS!

Around the Cornerby fdpiechComment by Neuferland: I see what you are going for here, the element of surprise is on the wood many while the wood woman comes along without a care in the world. And while this may work in real life, in wood life the set up is there but knowing that the execution of the prank will never truly be pulled off hurts the shot to me. The shot also seems a bit dark and there are light flares on the dolls themselves.
Perhaps if you could get someone to help you pull this on someone else and you could shot it from set up to the end result? A 5 |
