The coloring of the back walls makes this photo uninteresting and blah. They blend into the background instead of popping. Nice composition and equal distance apart though.

Greetings from the Critique Club!

Very interesting concept and execution. The rock is sitting on the paper, which the scissors have already slashed, and in turn tried to cut the rock, which resisted and broke the scissors but was still damaged, so didn't really go as planned...so extra points for an effective title :-)

I do agree wholeheartedly with Katie ( littlemav). Your lighting is quite good, the bg unobtrusive but adding some texture to the shot, a nice change from matte black bg. The concept and execution are a)simple and b)effective, which seems to be the winning combo on this site. Yes, killer pp skills a la gyaban and Judi will help but only so long as you have a good basic image to work from in the first place.

Comp is a little on the safe side, being centred etc, but hard to fault for a setup. And at this stage better safe than sorry isn't such a bad idea!

So welcome to crazyland, make yourself at home, and go out there and shoot. Then shoot some more. Shoot stuff you've never shot before. Push your comfort zone. And above all, have fun. Looking forward to more of your entries.

Feel free to PM me,

Susan
