I like your B&W treatment of this photograph. Nice exposure and tonal range. Focus appears to be a little soft on the leaves and stalks. Nicely captured to sufficiently convey your message summarized in your title. The sky lacks depth to give this picture more of an interesting framework. I feel that's the largest shortcoming of this otherwise excellent photograph.

IMO, not enough contrast for B&W, especially with the blur.

for some reason, the bubbles kinda freak me out :) I don't really know why. not a comment on the picture, but they just seem gross in the shot, like there is some puke floating around in the glass...eww :)
