Circus! CIRCUS!by sergutComment by dr rick: Greetings from the Critique Club!
The message I get from this photo is the unique art this company has on the side of its truck. The image was made under perfect lighting conditions: the three-dimensional nature of the art is apparent but the shadows aren't long or harsh. The focus is perfect, though a bit soft; I think some sharpening would make the photo a bit more snappy. Including the wheel and cobblestones provides the setting needed to understand what the image is about. I don't think the framing is quite right. There are distracting elements on the left and right sides that don't really add anything and could be cropped off. The arcs across the top are cut off, but it would have been nice to include them. If stepping back a foot when the exposure was made wasn't an option, a thin (2-3 pixel) black border would at least prevent them from "bleeding" out of the image. |

Without a netby sergutComment by Olyuzi: I wish you had zoomed in on this performer and used a portrait format. The subjects are too smalll and the surroundings are so dark that it doesn\'t matter that you\'ve included the setting as you can\'t see it. In addition, the trapeze artist is mostly in shadow and so barely visible. Perhaps different expousre settings would have improved this picture. The performer also appears out of focus, probably do to subject mvement. I do, however, like very much the concept of this picture. The woman hanging suspended by a long red sash, along with the dramatic lighting could make for a very compelling picture. |

Without a netby sergutComment by bcvieira: Too dark (might seem an obvious remark, but listen) the orchestra is very dark, you could just crop it and make the photo only with the artist. This way I get a feeling that I should be seeing something but in fact I can not. Still a nice picture. |

Without a netby sergutComment by Pedro: i just saw cirque in t San Francisco last week. nice job...these are really hard to catch because of the stage lights. she's a little blown out in parts, but i really like the hint of the orchestra on the left. this pic works nicely. |
