thanks to all who commented! i am humbled and inspired by my placing here in my first challenge on the DPC. I just got my camera two weeks ago, its my first real camera and i'm quite excited about it. a friend pointed this site out to me and i wanted to submit something right away. i'm glad this photo didn't do so well because it was done hastily and on a whim. i'm excited about future challenges now, am encouraged by the fact that people have commented on my photo, and i hope to see more comments and constructive criticism on my entries to come. cheers!

Interesting idea, but the image doesn't hold my attention very well. The colors are good and the focus works, but I don't get a solitude or lonely feeling from the image. 5

I really love the angle, I feel though, that the DOF is a little bit too broad, other than that, I love the colors as well. Good job!

Pos .. Good humor :D And I like the colors happening in the background. I like how the light is concentrated at the top of the lettuce, brings more emphasis to the main subject.

Neg .. There is not enough light here, and the three lights in the back are a distraction to the main focus of this photograph. The focusing is a tad bit off..Composition could be improved on - The table would look better straight across the bottom rather than on an angle.

I find this image a tad dark, when there are such bright background elements. The 3 lights are very distracting. I do like the angle of your shot and the lettuce looks very good.
