You've certainly pulled back the red in this. Why I don't know. The exposure is at least half a stop OE and the entire image suffers from it, is washed out, has blown highlights on the feathers and bland. The mallard is too central for my liking but he at least appears crisp and sharp and in a natural environment with a nice reflection. The catchlight also appears as if he is looking at you. I don't think it would be published however, sorry!

Nothing really improved on this shot. The added blackness really doesn't help. I think you should have gone and re-shot your bees in the back yard again!
