In other words, I get what you're doing, but I don't think it worked well for the picture or as an entry to this challenge.

As to the picture itself, from what I can see it is a moment "in between". There is movement, but not enough to make it a movement picture. There are still portions, but they aren't entirely sharp. The background doesn't ad much to the image, the foreground however is beautiful (the blowing up sand and the ground texture). It feels like an action picture waiting for action. I wonder if a slower shutter speed to increase the sense of movement would work, or if, on the other hand, freezing the motion entirely would make a nice contrast between the hovering helicopter and the blown up sand.

Thanks for the comment, but I am thoroughly confused. Slower OR faster, just not my choice of 1/320...
Doesn't really address what topic? The helicopter is horizontal the frame is vertical...
Not a movement picture? the dust is moving the blades are moving, even the craft is moving.

I am sorry, but it just seems like a bunch of contradictions and I don't know which way to go...

She needs to be in some extreme heels! I also would have preferred a bit of context instead of a black background, though I understand that would have been much harder to hide the other half of the model that way.

Waterbury.....Nice negative space but, and maybe because I often pass this place, I think the crop is a bit too much. I'd like to see more of the building.

Nice; Drive by it every day- was in the Barnes and noble Sunday. Great Blue in the Sky with good use of some negative space.

Superb dust.
Would you have cropped it the same for a different challenge? perhaps not.

Very unique and gutsy for a DPC entry. Nice idea! It appears a wee bit off in the sharpness dept, could have had a lot more seeing as it's a studio shot.
