Interesting using the red on the red background. Pretty nice job lighting it to make the ice cream part stand out.

Would have been more effective if the background weren't also red, or at least if it were a different red. As is, the cone just doesn't stand out enough.

I think this image would be improved with a different colored background so the red color of the icecream would stand out more.

The greens are wonderful .. not sure what it is .. looks like a comb but does give the impression of a soft wave on the shore.

That is so interesting! I keep looking at it. It just keeps me staring at it. I love plaids . . .and blues, so this really appeals to me!

My first impression is that this is a very clean, tight photo.

Compositionally, it seems to work, in large part because it runs diagonally through the frame and is not a straight (and thus static) on shot of the building. I also think it is particularly effective to have the vertical lines of the building, the horizontal lines of the doors and the diagonal of the roof all happening at once.

Technically, the exposure, focus, colors (great contrast by the way, with the orange and blue), etc. are all right on and make for a technically pleasing photograph.

Overall, while the shot is very well done, and it does meet the challenge, the shadows are almost secondary to the shot, and this may have hurt you with some voters. There are shadows literally throughout the shot; it just doesn't seem obvious until the viewer looks at it for a second or two longer. Also, there really isn't anything in the shot that the viewer can "connect" with, unless they just really like pictures of buildings. :)

Just a note about the frame -- I think it is very well done, and gives a good idea what the shot would look like matted and framed. I do wonder if it is at the expense of having a smaller photograph. 640 isn't big at all, and a smaller frame might let you showcase the photograph more. I don't know that it had an impact on the scoring (it wouldn't have for me), it was just a thought that I had.

Best to you in future challenges, and if you have any questions, or if I need to further explain myself, please feel free to pm me.

A comb? I never looked at one this way. The emerald green is pretty nice.
