Comment by JamesDowning:
I can't say that I understand the collection, but I like the shot. I'm guessing that you collect antiques and restore them? You're in the process of restoring a vanity in this shot? Nice composition and lighting. The low key works well here.

Thank you all very much for the comments - at the end the brightness might have cost me the ribbon. And the only reasoning for the 1's and 2's that I can imagine is that some people might have disliked the sexy look? Anyway, without them I wouldn't have gotten my first DPC BLING thanks to NiallOTuama!!!

I'm thinking of a reshoot in a different environment (this was shot in my bedroom with half the tripod on the bed and 3 pillows helping hold the glasses device)

Once again thanks so much for the comments, they're helping me along this bumpy road of photography!

It is better darker. Glad you stuck with what's best for the photo and not what's best for the score. Next you'll start using backgrounds!

Comment by NiallOTuama:
You get yourself this

'cause you had the most randomness in the votes you received.

But in a personal note I thought this was very well done and very creative. I might have touched the exposure and gotten more of an interaction with the subject and the camera, but that would take away from the voyeuristic feel you were going for of course. Don't worry about the 1's and 2's. The bling you get in this challenge says that the votes you got were the most random in this challenge. That means you get a lot of low votes and a lot of high votes.
Great image. Delighted to see this do well!

Can't believe this didn't score higher! This should have ribboned, in my opinion.
I loved this shot, and still think it's a 10.
