shoe maker 2 (674x1024) (2)by thrumyiisComment by Ann: I think you're making progress. Learning to shoot still lifes is a process, not just some ability that people are born with. I think the white balance on last week's image looked more natural. The white wall this week looks a little too freshly painted. What I'd aim for on this one would be to get more light on the shoes and tools to try to focus the attention on them. On this image, the brightest, most contrasty thing is the white wall around the hanging shoe things, so that's where my eye goes. |

shoe makerby thrumyiisComment by Kroburg: The (textures of the) objects are promising for yet another fine image. Problem with this one is there's much more background than in your other images, and also in a lighter colour. My eyes are led to the bright part of that background instead of the objects itself, so another presentation/composition might work well. Message edited by author 2013-01-27 08:18:13. |

shoe makerby thrumyiisComment by bsluijk: These are nice subjects that make a nice picture and offer plenty of inspiration for subsequent shots. The thing that caught my eye is the bright reflection on the back wall, which seems to throw your lighting off. If you could add some shoes, or even unprocessed leather, this would make the "shoemaker" notion more complete. While you're at it, you might also try to form a little more coherent still life - the objects in this shot seem a little disconnected. |
