But ... to my eye, it is the "focal" point (the point of interest) in this photo; not what you wanted here. Somehow you got to get the light on the subject and use the background as complement (I think, don't know much about still life photography though). Also, out of curiosity, why the partial glasses? |

Quite a challenge especially for us with attention deficit issues. That's why I don't try. So I find both interesting but so different in lighting and composition that it is difficult to choose a preference. I find myself more interested in the two as a set - a study in process of how we can see the same subject and alter our perceptions over time. |

On a personal note I struggle most in a still life with the transition of a three dimensional setup into a two dimensional photograph. Placing your objects in real life to get them where you want them in the photograph is an art in itself. |

You know, this set-up is simpler but it's missing the feel of being as authentic as the first one. I am hopeless at these kind of setups so I am not sure how much value I would place on my comments. |
