The subtly hinted at vanishing point in the next car is a grace note in this tender portrait of a woman resting either at the end of the day or at its beginning. In counterpoint to the sense of calm here is, as anyone who's ridden a subway knows, all the clattering noise and shaking of the train. A winning, excellent image.
