Where the river flowsby robertmcdComment by bohemka: Nice scene, great motion blur. I think I might have cropped it a bit tighter and worked on eliminating the mottled light as much as possible so my eyes would be drawn right to the water, but it's a nice shot. |

Where the river flowsby robertmcdComment by NiallOTuama: I think the contextual scenery is a bit blown probably due to the long exposure. Nice scene. But I'd like to have seen maybe blues in the sky or cloud definition and more details on the grass. Perhaps some light HDR'ing on the image would have given you that while maintaining the motion blur. |

Can You Guessby robertmcdComment by FourPointX: 7 from me. i felt like this was a take on the whole "macro bubble" effect that is so popular, so it didn't stand OUT for me. however, i DID like the color and tones you used, they gave more depth to what was an overdone theme. Your title didn't help ME personally, because i felt many were trying a "puzzle macro" shot and your title screamed out "puzzle macro...guess@ |

Giver of Lifeby robertmcdComment by OverflowStudios: I love the idea of this, just not in love with the treatment. The concept requires the viewer to get the feeling of an overwhelming power. I think this could have been better achieved with increased contrast (levels or curves) and a touch of brightness to the roses to highlight the sun's impact to the rose petals and the "life" of the greens. A little modification would have earned another point or two, but I still really enjoyed this photograph! |

Giver of Lifeby robertmcdComment by bohemka: Very nice idea. There seems to be a bit of a haze cast to this, though, and I think you would have been well served by some PS tricks to get those roses to pop just a bit. Maybe a levels and/or curves adjustment. A fill flash would have helped in this regard as well. Composition is nice, though. (Not voting, just commenting.) |

Cascading Waterby robertmcdComment by Revecca: The flowing water is gorgeous and the perspective is very nice. I like the way the whole image seems framed by the logs/roots? at the bottom.
I think your downfall here is the fact that the overall image could have some more clarity and sharpness, and a lot of voters will compare this image to this one: [thumb]970551[/thumb] (I hope that shows up since that picture is in voting right now as well) and by doing so, yours will lack that dramatic, oomph factor.
ETA: It seems like the image doesn't show... it's the one named "Forest Water" in this months Free Study challenge as well. |

Cascading Waterby robertmcdComment by Chandi: Whenever I see cascading falls, the picture I think of is this:
The falls are nicely framed in this one with a natural border all around.
But the falls being busy only to a quarter of the picture leading out of the frame, leaves the rest of it quite empty of action and unable to support the main subject well. I don't know how the terrain is and if you could get any closer, but filling up a majority of the frame with the cascading falls would've wowed me. Good luck. |
