Virgoby NeuferlandComment by TooCool: Deannda, due to the fact that I'm very overworked and stressed out, I did not have a chance to vote on this shot. I didn't even see it until your forum thread... I would have given it an 8 (and I don't give out 8-10 lightly...)
This is a very BEAUTIFUL shot of a beautiful model! The soft focus affect is awesome and IMHO makes the shot. It is also one of the few times (in a non soft focus challenge) that it really makes sense to use this affect! In your notes it says that you softened in post editing. I would like to know which technique you used.
Your lighting is great. You are just a touch overexposed in the background, but it is not really that important here.
Overall a great shot and one to be proud of. Don't let scores bring you down!
Yours (as always)

The Large and The Small of itby NeuferlandComment by GoodEnd: You has a nice composition here. It´s cool. This shoot has some overexposed areas that can see left and right below. The screw drivers in the top has some reflections that run out of your control and turn to overexposed to. This kind of shoot needs intense light control. Sometimes you need a reflector (a white paper sheet can be used) and a strong light. Then you control the exposure get it e darker as you want, but with reflected ligth the glares are dimmed and you had a difuse light that cover a wider area with smother tones. |

Pen and Pencilsby NeuferlandComment by ScottK: OK, for the theme, though to me, pen and pencil seem a bit more contrasting than going together (you use a pen OR pencil), but that's a bit nit-picky. :) The setup is really interesting - how you got the bundle balanced on the one pencil. DOF is a bit too narrow I think, since the tip of the pen is out of focus (again stressing the contrast, not the togetherness, though I assume unintentionally). Lighting and use of colors are good. I think this would really stand out in a "one of these things doesn't belong here" type competition. Still, a good entry. |

Virgoby NeuferlandComment by Lustre: As others have said - this shot is perhaps a fraction overexposed but what a lovely dreamy shot. The lighting behind her creating the glow and the dreamy soft-focus effect are great. It's a really good example of soft-focus making sense.
The beautiful skin and soft flowing hair really create an angelic effect as well. I really must try some portrait photography myself. |

Virgoby NeuferlandComment by casualguy: Probably trying to create a dreamy image, but this is a little to soft for my tastes. Is the face a tad overexposed? |
