I usually like clean white or black backgrounds but something about the white background here doesn't feel quite right. Though it's clearly posed I like the way this shows contemplation by using a non-formal pose.

Nice play on the current challenges. Like the use od sepia to emphasise the thougtful pose and the sharp focus to fix attention on the subject - good clean background.
