I like how the light is hitting his jacket. Nothing is blown out, even in the white of the boat which is a good thing. More contrast might have helped. All in all I think it is a pleasing photo. |

Since you can't change the DOF at this point, might try tight cropping on left and right (making this into a vertical photo). This way the image is about the two women and not about the women + their location. |
