Very nice shot for framing as well... I think I would prefer the branches to be focused differently - either more or less. Right now it's so close that the OOF on the branches looks like a goof.

Composition is good but the image looks "over-processed" strange artifacts show in the water and the furthest two boats are in too sharp focus to look real when the more distant water and far trees are not.

I'm not sure what you did to edit this...but it looks, um, painted. i'm not sure if that is what you were going for or not. i think the crop could have been better, i would have cut out the hills/trees in the back. so weird..i've never seen a picture look like that before. not sure how i like it yet...

nice idea, IMO, and I do realize it is my opinion, but if the branches had been in focus and the boat slightly out of focus, would have worked better, especially if you cropped out the upper two boats

Memento Mori

Memento Mori means Remember Death. During the time of Holocaust of Hungarian Jews they were herded to the banks of river Danube, forced to get off their shoes and then shot one by one into the icy river.

This is a monument of this tragedy made of a row of sculptured shoes not far away from the building of Hungarian Parliament.

The picture was taken at very high water and very dull weather, and I tried to make it look a bit like the photos taken in those times of the winter 1944-45 (Levels, Hue/Saturation, Colorize, Shadows/Highlights,Contrast USM)

Thanks everybody for their votes and comments, I was very happy reading them. I guessed you would be a little puzzled, but after all quite a many of commenters have found out that this is in connection with death somehow or other. This makes favor to the picture and to the commenters themselves as well: DPC teaches us not only to take better photos, but to read and understand the subtle language of pictures as well.
