The Wharfby hysmorComment by aquarian11: Upon first, second and now third looks, your photograph remains my
favorite. I see the clarity of focus of the house and even the sailboat
in the backi. The colors are so real. No doubt this would be an interesting
spot to take photos each season. Good work and thankyou for sharing. |

The Wharfby hysmorComment by orussell: That looks like a NODECO sticker on the door of the shed. I'm guessing somewhere along the highway between Long Harbour and St. John's. I would have guessed there would be more Autumn colours in the trees though, being taken in the last week.
Composition is good with the diagonal placement of the wharf and use of leading lines. The eye is drawn to the bouy and then back again through the composition. One thing I see is lack of crispness in the image. A little USM would work wonders here. Hope this is helpful. |

Oh the heartburn!!by hysmorComment by sacs: i love the title. :D!! i don't think that the windowsills work for me though. maybe if you had the pumpkin in a solid colored room it'd be more interesting? that's just my opinion. however, great way to get into the holiday spirit! |

Oh the heartburn!!by hysmorComment by LadeeM: I like the glow you created in the dark. I think an off-centered crop would have worked better and added more interest. As is, a nice crisp photo. Good luck! |

juniperby hysmorComment by sfalice: Greetings from the Critique Club
I love to see these lacy branches as they blossom from the trunk. You've done a good job of keeping them in focus.
It may be that the gray sky worked against you just a little. If you had been able to find an angle where you could have captured that blue sky against all the background branches, it would have really helped this image.
It would be nice to see this image photographed on the diagonal to give the image more power and excitement. And, perhaps (and I'm guessing here) the interest factor of the tree receding into the distance just wasn't strong enough to appeal to our voters. This might explain the rather low score you received on this really quite nice image.
I wish you good luck in future Challenges and look forward to seeing more of your work. |
