Water + Rocks + Lighthouse = No Worriesby

request for comment: Overall, I think this is a good photograph, with an interesting composition and beautiful subject matter. It's probably not a
great photograph despite it's beauty, and I can only really offer my opinion on why that may be. First, as someone noted, it lacks a subject, because we have the interesting horizon with its lighthouse, the dramatic swirling water (which could be the real subject of the image), and the nice red rocks. It's all nice, but a tighter focus on one particular element may have helped, which is odd, because many fine landscapes are made from multiple elements. Perhaps more focus on the churning water would have been of greatest interest - you could then have really focused the detail, tried some impressive post work, and truly satisfied the challenge.
The image itself is a bit soft, which may really detract from a landscape with so many elements. More sharpening, and some noise reduction to get rid of the grain in the nice blue sky, could have enhanced the picture. Also, if we are meant to look at all the elements, the lack of detail in the land at the horizon defeats the purpose. The rock element at left is quite chopped off, and for me, weights the picture on that side none too pleasantly. My eye keeps wandering there, so is that the subject? It's not clear to me.
My choice may have been to focus primarily on the water, and ensure that I got a very dramatic, detailed shot of the churning and waves created by the rocks. I may have post-processed to bring out this detail.
I hope this has helped, and thanks for asking for the comment.
