Blending Inby KelliComment by TCGuru: I can't really say much that hasn't been said already but I will try :)
The red on the legs and antenna really help this little guy's beauty. I second the DOF comment, it is spot on. I also like that you seem to have captured him eating :) That makes this a very interesting photograph to look at :) Last thing: Is this a grasshopper or am I crazy?? He is a cutie :P |

Lessons? Who needs lessons?by KelliComment by bassbone: I like the perspective and the use of lighting, but there is a strange reddish tint to the image that is problematic to me - especially in her forehead and around her chin. Taking the image all the way to B/W would likely have worked better. |

Bad Dog! Not on the bed!by KelliComment by bmartuch: Kelli, I think this was a lot better than the score you got. I liked this and gave it a 7. As I said earlier, I thought the detail was great. |

Shy Melissa in her Sunday Hatby KelliComment by bmartuch: I think the concept is very nice but you're right, a lot of the sharpness is gone. I'm not that technically oriented so I can't help you explain it but keep going with the good ideas. |

Shy Melissa in her Sunday Hatby KelliComment by DrAchoo: The technicals: I've entered shots at 60% quality before and they didn't look like this at all. Did you use Neat Image? This has that over-NI'd look to me. The lighting isn't bad, but also not dramatic. You do see some highlighting on the top leaf of cabbage. Composition is centered and static.
The feel: It took me a while to see the face in this shot. The shot does "feel" shy somewhat.
The game: Personification. It was a minefield. People were all over with their interpretations. I can tell you I gave you a 2, but that was purely because I didn't see the face until this time around. Had I revoted, however, it would have been a 4-5. Mainly the NI look kills the shot. You didn't mention the processing, but if you used Neat Image, that's your culprit. |
