Fire & Waterby KelliComment by smardaz: there is so much about this photo that is bad, maybe i should not say bad but stuff that detracts from it, the power lines, the street lights.... but that lightening bolt is AMAZING! the way you can see where it starts and ends like its coming right at the viewer. i'm going to give you a 10 for being lucky enuf to catch that shot within the challenge dates!
as a side nit pic i might have called it "fire in the sky" or something as the water plays very little role in this shot |

Fire & Waterby KelliComment by dewdodesign: When I think of electricity i do not really think of it as being fire. When I switch the plug on there obviously isn't fire going on inside the cables otherwise the plastic coatings would melt. So for this reason alone i think you have tried to match this photo to the challenge rather than going out with the intention of taking an elements style shot. Not that this is a problem but it shows in the style of shot and the fact it rather looks like a snapshot rather than something you have taken time over to think about and plan and for that reason I am giving this a 3. |

Reachingby KelliComment by JuliBoc: I think the three comments you got during voting were very valid, and summed up the shot quite well. The first one praised it, as it deserves. The second one pointed out a minor problem with the desat. And the third one pointed out the over-sharpening, which I think is the most significant problem.
I love the lily, and I think the b&w conversion is excellent. I love the way the pistils and stamen (if those are the correct terms) pop right out of the image. I noticed the haloing, and thought 'too bad, you didn't catch that', because it is easy to fix with Advanced Rules. |
