this is a nice flower pic, but as a still life it's not working.

the defenition of still life is some arrangement of different items set up somwhere, bot a picture of a single type of flowers do not count as still life.

if it were arrangement of flowers of different kind, then it would have worked as a still life, but not with that angle, still lifes are usually a bit downwards angle, like when the painter is standin besides the table with the arrangement looking down at it, he doesn't paint it from an angle where he's looking up.

the picture however is well lit and a nice picture, the background is a bit dull though.

Overall, I don't think this is your best work...and I am sure you were hurt because DPC voters probably don't regard this as a still life. I didn't vote for this, but I probably would have given it a 4 I'm sorry to say.

I love everything about this...except the blur (which you explained). Great expressions. (BTW, if you want to see some REAL blur wait until my next challenge - it will make your blur look like you're seeing better than 20/20 LOL). I like the colors here too. This is a very pleasant moment with people who make this shot come alive.
