Future 10by KelliComment by digitalknight: centered composition - blown highlights - obviously a candid (not posed) - shoe-horned into the challenge with a title. I'm guessing this isn't doing well for you.
What would make this better - in my opinion
Frame her left so she's looking across 2/3 of the photo of empty grass
Take a meter reading before you start shooting - realize that your camera meter is shooting the high and set your EV compensation to -0.3 so the highlights stay in control
Look at the light in her face - and the hightlights in her eyes - make her stop - look that direction, and get right into her face so we can see those beautiful eyes and the catch lights in them. (again, framed slightly off center)
These are things that I have found started turning my photos from snapshots into photos that I was really proud of. If this is your daughter I'm sure you're proud anyway - she is beautiful -
Not all precious photos are beautiful photos, not all beautiful photos are precious.
I hope this is helpful. |

Tsunamiby KelliComment by levyj413: Hmm. Nice idea, and the title matches the visual impression well. And you used the rule of thirds well in placing the water/house line.
However, as a photograph ...
The colors look washed out. Maybe enhancing the contrast would make it look better. |

Tsunamiby KelliComment by Atropos: Good idea and it looks neat as well. Not very visually appealing to me though. |

citysunset.jpgby KelliComment by Melethia: Nice exposure shooting directly into the sunset! You may want to play with the saturation a bit to deepen the pinks, but the way you have it here is really quite nice. Peaceful and delicate in tones and color. Nice composition as well. |

Perfect Starby KelliComment by Melethia: Trading Post comment
You had a great time at the fireworks, didn't you? Congrats on yet another new picture on the top row! The colors here are great and the focus quite crisp. And yes, I can see the star - very cool! Only thing I can see to change is a very minor stray white bit at the bottom that could be cloned - and that's really a very minor nitpick. Lovely choice for the challenge! |

Fire Flowerby KelliComment by chalice: Trading Post
I like the image - the well rounded shape of the "flower", the bokeh for a background, and the off-center position. I would have preferred to have the crop be less severe on the bottom, showing more of the "stem"...but since I don't know what was down there, perhaps you made a wise choice. |
