Good shot here. The lighting is nice and the subject is interesting. The green on the outer edge of the mushroom is a bit odd - desating the green channel may have cleared that up. And the pic could be sharper as well, but this is still a nice shot that scored pretty good. Cant complain about top 50 out of 200. I didnt vote in this one but I would have probably given 6-7 depending on my mood at the time.

Well - looking at this shot I would not have guessed the perspective of your entry. I thought your entry was a pic of the base of the tree rather than the entire trunk and body itself. Looks like a cool place to visit.

Nice twist on the challenge. Good to see something other than those stupid tree silhouettes against sunset skies that were way overdone inthis challenge ;) This shot didnt grab me right away. The abstract nature was good to separate yours from the other shots but the pic seems jumbled (not that you had any control over the tree). Interesting colors and textures but it just seems to be lacking something that I cant quite put my finger on.

Very nice lines and a fun to look at image. I wish the top extruding piece could be in focus as well, but I'm sure it's tough to get DOF all the way thru the image from the distance you were positioned from the subject. Good luck in the challenge.

This came out almost as an abstract. Given the context of the challenge theme it's identifiable. It is hard to grasp the context in which the image was taken, i.e. - how big is it? Not that it really matters that much but I get the impression from reading the 'Photographer's Comments' that you were amazed at it's size. If that "hugeness" could be passed on to the viewer...

Regarding the post-processing, the highlights (on this monitor - which isn't good) seem to be blown-out and the details of the tree/roots are a little muted and soft. I do like the high contrast approach you took overall.

Sounds like a neat place to visit sometime. ;^)

I scored this a 5. Met the challenge (I love candy), but the presentation here is a bit lacking. A different choice of candy (the round ones are a bit boring) and a different layout could have helped. I think set up shots like these that have a design or pattern really need to be clean and sharp. I see what you were going for but it just wasnt executed like it could have been. 4.2 might be too low though.

I didnt get to vote on this challenge (I so wish I could have). I would have scored this a 6-7. Very cool shot - I wish I had hippos at our zoo. Great focus and detail on him overall and cool colors. I think my only issue is the cropping out of the eye onthe left. I think I would have liked to have seen all of it in the shot which may have given you more of his cool snout as well. Overall - good stats (a 6 would have been better and more appropriate IMO) and only having 5 votes 3 and under is great. Nice work here.
