Well, you certainly can tell it was a windy day. :D While it's a nice photo it doesn't jump out and say "look at me". The pier/dock adds a bit of clutter, however it does add context (which is good). Seems that maybe it was a little underexposed and you pushed it up some to bring out the foreground. In doing so the whites in the clouds have blown out. The photo is also quite cold with the heavy blue cast. That may have been your intent, but I think it could stand to be warmed up a little by adjusting the color temperature to a warmer tone. All of the above is JMO of course. Best of luck to you in the challenge.

Yup, that's pretty choppy. I like the idea, however the sky seems to be badly exposed. Having said that though, I do like to see cyan in skies as it's more realistic than the over-saturated blues.

Gotta say I don't think I've ever seen the bulbs like you're describing. I think what hurts this is the noise in the bird, though given what it is you're shooting, I'm not quite sure how to avoid that.

Had I not been trying to comment on more of the images this challenge I may not have stuck around long enough to see the critter.Nice sharp focus ont he front. The bokeh in the back seems a bit grainy and doesnt seem to add a whole lot to the image but at he same time it doesnt really detract from it outside of the grain.
