Ghosts of a brilliant past...by cyparisComment by gyaban: There's a very good idea here: a human-made machine witnessing its creators life passing by. Ironical, isn't it?
Technically, I think the composition is the main weakness of the shot, since the silhouettes are not clearly visible at a glance. Perhaps with the car taking less place in the frame, and the crowd walking behind but also in front of it, with a shorter exposition so that humanoid shapes are easily spotted. |

Ghosts of a brilliant past...by cyparisComment by ti_evom: Obvious use of a tripod, or any other long-term stabilization tool (1-10 *is not the score of the shot though*): 10
Nice sharp foreground with massive time lapse happening at the same time with the people walking. |

Ghosts of a brilliant past...by cyparisComment by newmanr0623: By far my favorite in the challenge. Many others were excellent as well, but almost all were something I had seen before. This is a very unique piece. Obviously the ghosting effects of long exposures have been utilized extensively in many other photographs, but none so exquisitely as in this piece. This photograph gives a sense of "peering into the past" while hiding behind the vehicle. The grayscale effect is much needed here, and perfectly adds to the feeling of the times, bringing the overall feeling of the piece together. The absolute clarity of the vehicle, and even the reflections on the fender, make a very important contrast to the out of focus background blurring of the people. It is just one more part of this photo that separates the new age, and old age. In other the out of focus background is out of focus "just barely enough" to make it appear as an in focus, but low quality antique photograph, and the sharpness and clarity of the foreground shows the capabilities of new technology in contrast to the old. Overall, this is an excellent piece, and it is execute with perfection. Well done!!!! |
