I appreciate the challenge that you have given the viewer with your different take on the topic, but for me, in this instance, the photo doesn't really work. It does speak to me a little of bleakness and impermanence, but the link is tenuous and the sense fleeting. Hmm, now I have written all that, I shall have to raise my vote from 3 to 5.

The tender intimacy of people talking like this is almost intolerably powerful. Was grain ever used more artfully to create the feel of a painting? Wonderfully rich tones in this black and white. All the elements work together so well to render the fullness of life.
