I LOVE this photo! It illustrates that for some people, life is just across the bridge if only they could get to it. Depression, loneliness, homelessness - Life on the other side. Maybe the chair is empty because the person who sits in it is already on their way to the other side - towards life....or death? A very evocative shot!
