Comment by olddj:
Well, afraid I am going to sound like a broken record, but background too distracting, lighting was off, even cow in front has right ear oof and that is so true of the (what appears to be) yearling calf in the background. Sorry, only thing I can think of with this one is to crop it down to show just the face of the front cow, maybe without its right ear even, wish I could come up with something else.

"Look,Dave! Cows!"
Afraid your cows are lost at sea, you have really lost too much detail in the shadows, because your exposure was set for the bright relections. Fill flash might have helped

Love the black and white face. I like that the other one is kind of blurred and not the focal point.

This is similar to Rikki11's black cat. It's very difficult to meter solid black subjects. You have a double whammy with the bright reflecting water in the background. To get more details in the cows you probably have to blowout the background. Maybe if you changed perspective, so the background is closer to the cow in tones. That or you'll really have read up on metering for this type of exposure.

Just ran across this. It's truly stunning. I like the "under the plant" perspective. Great job. The detail and coloration is just lovely.

Good photo. A refreshing change from all of the landscape photos in this challenge (not that there's anything wrong with landscape photos of course).

Thanks for leaving such a detailed comment on my photo. I'm very happy to see that the image can stimulate thought to such an extent. I just found that the old chair and the bridge in the background made for a good combo.

I like the chair, lighting, b&w and the idea
but the shots not looking balanced to me... I think turning the chair so the left arm (as we look at it) was to the front might fix it for me ~ 6
