shhhhh!......the flowers are bugged!by JayneRyanComment by Cory: hmmm... I think this might be a dead staghorn beetle. Mostly because they don't really tend to hang around flowers too much, and because the wings are parted and the feet seem to be curled up and not hanging on. Still, what a magnificent specimen of this critter! |

shhhhh!......the flowers are bugged!by JayneRyanComment by MaryO: Yikes! That's one heck of a bug!!! I'd let him eat whatever he wanted. Possibly offer it to him on a silver platter ;-) I might dodge the near eyeball just a bit to make it more blatant how his face is put together, but this is a really cool capture. |

17 year itch!by JayneRyanComment by JayneRyan: Originally posted by Magnum_za: You have a superb camera with 51 focus points, but they get in the way of Macro/Close-Up photography. Switch OFF APS-C or APS-S and use manual focus or use selective focus points and tell the camera where YOU want it to focus (p78 in the D300s manual) Increase you aperture to f/8 at least for this kind of shot. f/4.4 is not enough. What lens did you use? |
Thank you so very much for this advice. I am a total beginner with all this equipment but love using it. I used a Nikkor 200mm f4D ED-IF AF lens which I have only had a short while. I have been so frustrated with the focus, I will try the manual option. Thanks again! |
