Yikes! That's one heck of a bug!!! I'd let him eat whatever he wanted. Possibly offer it to him on a silver platter ;-) I might dodge the near eyeball just a bit to make it more blatant how his face is put together, but this is a really cool capture.

Thank you so very much for this advice. I am a total beginner with all this equipment but love using it. I used a Nikkor 200mm f4D ED-IF AF lens which I have only had a short while. I have been so frustrated with the focus, I will try the manual option. Thanks again!

Switch OFF APS-C or APS-S and use manual focus or use selective focus points and tell the camera where YOU want it to focus (p78 in the D300s manual) Increase you aperture to f/8 at least for this kind of shot. f/4.4 is not enough. What lens did you use?
