Now that's strange! Now if it were the restroom, that would be even weirder!

ACW=All Comments Welcome? Well, thats what I am taking it as. My apologies if it really means "Apples can't walk" or "Always channels water" :-P
I love this photo as a thumb! In fact it was one of the photos I was most interested in viewing when looking through all of the thumbs. Up close, I like the focus in the "cold" handle and in the towel, but am missing some focus in the nozzle. That kind of detracts for me.
I like the tonal range of your black white image. A nice mix of all shades, which is really important in my opinion.

I really like this. The curve of the faucet and the low key lighting is nice. Different.

I hope it helps, and that I haven't offended you. It really wasn't my intention, I hope it makes up somewhat for your lack of comments, 13 ones and two comments isn't fair. I feel some people have lost sight of what DPChallenge is about.

Best of luck in future challenges, you have only done 6 so far, so there is all to play for!!!

Mark

cheers Mark - no offence taken at all and many thanks for the constructive feedback (and for taking the time to give it).

In my case all and any comments are welcome, I actually appreciate them more than the score! (well except for the one comment I just got that consisted of just two characters
"R 3" and nothing more... about which I have no idea!)

regards

Jon

Hello,
I saw in the scores thread you were a bit upset by your score and lack of comments. So I thought I should justify the score I gave you - which was a '4'. I sometime feel awkward doing this, as I don't rate myself high enough to really give someone else advice, so I hope its helpful rather than dismissive.

--------

The focus isn't sharp, look at the photos that often 'do well' here and they are TACK sharp, shallow depth of field is cool, but the most important part of the photo (the eye in this case) should be really sharp, and draw the viewer in.

The composition isn't the best - with the shadow falling down the center of the frame. Maybe off to one side would work a bit better (see rule of thirds). As it stands, the frame is very tight, this could be a very moody/emotive picture - but I can't see any expression, thus have no emotional attachment or empathy with the subject. Are they happy/sad/scared/surprised etc.

The lighting is very harsh, as a result the image is very contrasty (can't see any detail in the eye). you could try and diffuse your light, it might make it a bit more flattering. Also the purple tone doesn't add anything to the photo for me at least. It does however make it stand out from the crowd and makes a change from the 100 practically all-black photos in the challenge!

Comment by EL-ROI:
This is a good photo. Very nice black and white conversion with deep blacks. The shine of the stainless steel looks real good too. Nice centered composition with a square crop omits any unecessary context and clutter creating a clean image. Only thing to give any negatives about is the rather ordinary subject matter... But the quality of the photo offsets that good enough to give an abaove average vote in my opinion.

Should've taken the cloth off, and them it would've enhanced the picture more.
