I think maybe because its such a static pose perhaps? I can't quite put my finger on it, perhaps not filling the frame with his face might have been more effective. I do like the color but b&w may have been more effective in conveying your title.

This picture is very pretty too. I love the curves in the little leaves coming off the stem. It provides a neat visual texture to it. The yellow is bright and beautiful. I don't know what I would have voted this one at, I voted your entry at 8 and really liked the darker dreamy feel to it. I think you made the right choice with entering the one you did although this one is beautiful too.
